I am Shan, the independent designer and developer behind Shan Studio. I help small businesses turn what they do into a clear, useful website without the overhead or handoffs of a large agency.

My role covers the whole build: deciding what the site needs to say, shaping the pages, designing the interface, writing the code, and testing it before launch. You speak to the same person throughout, and the scope and fixed price are agreed before the work begins.

Being based in Invercargill matters. Southland businesses often buy on trust, clarity, and whether someone understands the local context. A nearby project can begin over a coffee; remote projects elsewhere in New Zealand follow the same direct process over a call.

The primary work is small business web design and development, including new websites and redesigns. I also build AI prototypes and startup MVPs when the problem extends beyond a marketing site.

I write openly about the implementation decisions behind the work in the technical notes. The aim is software that is calm, useful, fast, and maintainable after launch, not a black box that creates another dependency for the business owner.
